2 Artists work

Sidney Nolan - Untitled ( Red Abstract)

This painting was painted in 1940 which was the same year as Sidney Nolan first one man show in his studio in Russell Street, Melbourne. Small abstracts and collages were exhibited.Nolan's drawings and paintings are pure, simple and can fully show the patinings are unique. olan had been commissioned to design the sets and costumes for Icare after Lifar had seen his work in Melbourne. The theme of Icare was taken from the Greek myth of Icarus, the tragic hero who fell to his death after attempting to escape his tent–like cell on wings which he had attached to his body with wax. The colour is really strong in this painting, the lines are firm and thick, which should be drawn by thick oil colour.

Ricky Swallow -
Ricky Swallow was named one of Australia's most collectible artists by Australian Art Collector for two consecutive years. Swallow is best known for his intricate sculptural ensembles, architectural models and dioramas. His sculptures are significantly impressive, strong and sometimes fun to look at. This sculputure that Ricky Swallow did is about a skull wearing addidas hat. The textures and the shapes show simplicity. Also, the materials that he used are smooth and partially shinny. The shadows that created by the light above makes the whole shape the this sculpture stands out more.
